Acid techno label Stay Up Forever launches kickstarter for 30th anniversary exhibition
A three-day exhibition and birthday party is coming to London venue FOLD next March for 303 Day
London acid techno label Stay Up Forever is crowdfunding to celebrate three decades of the influential imprint and scene with an exhibition for its anniversary next March.
London Acid City - 30 Years of Staying Up Forever will run at Canning Town venue FOLD from 1st March to the 3rd, ending with a party on the final day — "303 Day" — curated by SUF artists Sterling Moss. The multimedia exhibition will feature a mix of archival materials and new original works from the Stay Up Forever family and acid techno community; according to Resident Advisor, there'll be contributions from archivists Matthew Smith, Molly Macindoe and Adrian Fisk and artwork by painter and fan, the actor Nick Frost.
"The acid techno story has never been properly documented," Stay Up Forever cofounder Chris Liberator told RA. London Acid City organiser Rebel Union (Moss, photographer Joe Giacomet and SUF cofounder Aaron Liberator) state their aim on Kickstarter: "We seek to document this important cultural movement through an exhibition of contemporary and archive photography, written contributions, video, sculpture, print, collage and mixed media, to represent Stay Up Forever’s journey."
Since launching on Friday, 28th October, the Kickstarter has garnered nearly £13,000 in pledged donations, a little over £2,000 away from its goal of £15,000. The campaign deadline is 5th December. Special 30th anniversary merch and memorabilia will exclusively be available through Kickstarter.
