Daniel Avery, VTSS, Two Shell, Joy Orbison, more to play Wide Awake festival this month
The festival returns to Brockwell Park on 27th May
Wide Awake festival returns to South London's Brockwell Park this month.
Taking place on 27th May, the festival's third edition will host a stacked line-up of artists spanning electronic music, post-punk, pop and more, promising to be an event for “music fans looking for something different”.
Among those on the bill are the likes of previous DJ Mag cover star Daniel Avery – who will play live – Two Shell, Joy Orbison, VTSS, Shygirl, Optimo (Espacio) and Oneohtrix Point Never. Erol Alkan, Tirzah, Coucou Chloe and Habibi Funk will also play, while those in search of more indie, pop and punk-edge sounds can check out the likes of Gilla Band, Caroline Polacheck, Arooj Aftab, Alex G and Black Country, New Road.
More DJ sets on the day will come from the likes of Martin from A Certain Ratio, Tia Cousins, Tom Ravenscroft and more. You can check out the full line-up below. The bill was crafted with the festival’s commitment to supporting emerging artists in mind.
Wide Awake’s line-up features an equal gender split, and 2023 will also see the organisers furthering their ‘Positive Policy’, a sustainability plan that was set up to change the way live music events affect the planet. In addition to this, Wide Awake is partnering this year with Hate Zine, an independent, anti-capitalist publication that will be hosting panels and workshops with a focus on the housing crisis, the environment, and gender equality in the music industry.
