Danny Tenaglia is undergoing treatment for cancer
The legendary DJ shared the news in an Instagram video
Danny Tenaglia has revealed that he is currently undergoing treatment for cancer.
The legendary New York DJ posted a video to social media on Friday in which he spoke about receiving a diagnosis following a routine colonoscopy in May. In the clip he discussed receiving daily radiotherapy for six weeks, but said he feels "great" and believes doctors caught the disease in time. Recent months have seen him forced to cancel a number of high profile dates across the world, including sets at Pacha, Ibiza, and Kappa Futur Festival.
"I've been wanting to share these words for several weeks now but as you might imagine, this is not the easiest subject to talk about. Also, I wanted to wait and see how well I would be tolerating the situation as news like this initially is scary AF. But now that I'm four weeks into treatments and feeling fine, I felt today was the day to share," Tenaglia posted to Instagram alongside the video. "I PRAY this will help people realize how important it is to get a colonoscopy after 50 and then every five years. Prevention is everything."
In a follow-up video shared on Saturday, he thanked fans for the support he has been shown in response to his initial post: "God bless and thank you all again for the very touching words, thoughts and prayers!"
Last year Danny Tenaglia won the Outstanding Contribution award at the DJ Mag Best of North America Awards in New York.
