DJ Premier is releasing a new EP, 'Hip Hop 50: Vol 1', at the end of the week.
The hip-hop veteran, formerly of Gang Starr and currently half of PRhyme, has enlisted Nas, Run the Jewels, Remy Ma, Joey Bada$$, Lil Wayne, Rapsody and Slick Rick as collaborators across the five new tracks, out 15th July.
The EP is the first of 10 to come in Mass Appeal's 50th anniversary of hip-hop series, tracing the genre's origins back to 1973 in the Bronx, New York. The-Dream, Swizz Beatz, Mustard and Mike Will Made It are among those with releases to come for the collection.
"It’s an honor to kick off this iconic Hip Hop 50 music program," DJ Premier said. "Hip-hop continues to inspire fans across the globe, and it’s incredible to think of what the next 50 years will bring."
Last October, DJ Premier collaborated with 2Chainz on the track 'Mortgage Free'.
