Iceboy Violet shares video for new single, ‘Wounded Coogi’: Watch
Taken from the Manchester artist's forthcoming project, 'Not A Dream But A Controlled Explosion'
Manchester-based MC, poet, producer and musician Iceboy Violet has unveiled a new video to the single, 'Wounded Coogi'.
The track is taken from their forthcoming project, 'Not A Dream But A Controlled Explosion', which will arrive on 3rd August via Fixed Abode.
The first full-length release to feature both Violet's own productions and vocals will also feature contributions from Rainy Miller, Florence Sinclair, and Orlandor ranging from vocals to mixing and recording. This latest tune combines heavy industrial drums with distorted disharmony and razor sharp rhymes.
“‘Not A Dream But A Controlled Explosion’ is a project about the role desire and fantasy plays in our lives. What is considered fake is constantly constructing the world we want to live in and the people we want to be, as we brush up against fantasy, as we feel the everlasting tug of desire, our reality is pressed into shape almost entirely by daydreaming, hallucination, yearning, and cum," Violet said. "This is something to be celebrated, harnessed as a force for good internally and externally. Fantasy as map and desire as engine. I love to want; I want to love.”
The release follows last year's acclaimed mixtape, 'The Vanity Project', which featured the likes of Space Afrika, Slikback, aya, and Nick León, alongside standalone and guest work with names such as Blackhaine and Loraine James. You can revisit DJ Mag's Get To Know feature with Violet here.
