LP Giobbi releases debut album, ‘Light Places’, on Counter Records: Listen
The long-anticipated debut was “created in large part among the clouds”
LP Giobbi has released her debut album, ‘Light Places’, out now on Counter Records. Listen to it below.
Described as “a comprehensive declaration to who LP Giobbi is as an artist”, the album embraces the organic freedom found in improvised music along with her passion for spontaneous collaboration, and features contributions from friends including SOFI TUKKER, Le Chev, and DJ Tennis & Joseph Ashworth.
Shedding some light on the release, LP Giobbi shared: “I am a seeker of light places both in the physical and the divine. I believe in letting yourself get lost and finding out it’s exactly where you were supposed to be. I hope this album helps you tap into your joy and light.”
The 13-tracker includes the previously released singles, ‘If Love Is A Skill’ and ‘Georgia’, and draws on elements of classic house with an added sense of sonic exploration. Accompanying the release is an intimate studio performance video for ‘Feels Just Like It’, with LP Giobbi on keys, Caroline Byrne on vocals, and Michael Cheever (Le Chev) on synth.
In recent years LP Giobbi has used her growing stardom to power her FEMME HOUSE nonprofit, creating opportunities for underrepresented creatives in the technical and behind the scenes areas of music.
Earlier this year, LP Giobbi played at DJ Mag's Miami Music Week pool party at Sagamore South Beach. She is currently embarking on a road trip across the US throughout May with DJ Tennis for their ‘All In An Airstream Tour’.
The album is out now via Ninja Tune’s Counter Records, and can be listened to in full below.
