Manchester drum & bass night Squiggle Dee Mash returns after two decades next month
DJ Rap, Ragga Twins, Sappo, Mark XTC, and more are set to perform at the comeback event
Manchester drum & bass night Squiggle Dee Mash is set to make its return to the UK clubbing landscape next month after closing two decades ago.
The club night ran for four years from 1998 - 2002 and took up home in various iconic venues across the city, including Generation X, Club Havana, UMIST Underground, and K2 at Man Met Students Union. Past acts included Fabio, Shy FX, DJ SS, Kenny Kenn, and Brockie, alongside local drum & bass names.
Squiggle Dee Mash promoter Ottilia Ordog, who was a University of Salford student when she launched the night in 1998, said she decided to re-launch the night after discussing the idea with uni friends after Covid. "And when I tried our former residents Sappo, Mark XTC and DJ Prophecy, they were all well up for it. It all just started coming together like it was meant to be".
Squiggle Dee Mash 2022, which comprises rooms of jungle, drum & bass, hardcore, hip-hop and house, will host DJ Rap, Ragga Twins, Sappo, Mark XTC, DJ Prophecy, Outlander, Diemond’ED, Veba, MC Madrush, MC Crystalize, MC Chilla and Kerin aka Che3kz (live PA).
