A new ABBA exhibition is opening next month
Offering a behind-the-scenes look at the acclaimed album and experience, 'Voyage'
A new ABBA exhibition is opening in Stockholm next month, marking ten years of ABBA The Museum.
The latest addition to the institution offers a behind-the-scenes look at the critically acclaimed 2021 album, 'Voyage', the band's first in 40 years, and the groundbreaking ABBA Voyage experience, which launched last year at London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The latter, a virtual concert, features avatars of the band performing some of their best-loved songs.
The ABBA Voyage exhibition will explore the work that went into realising both the record and ambitious digital project. It also features exclusive interviews with the artists and crew members, footage from the show, and iconic costumes by B Åkerlund, produced in collaboration with designers like Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Schmidt.
“I’m so proud of creating this exhibition at ABBA The Museum together with my team and in collaboration with the producers of ABBA Voyage. The exhibition will give visitors a look behind the making of ABBA Voyage including new and exclusive interviews with Björn and Benny about the show, and album, in retrospect," said Ingmarie Halling, Creative Director at ABBA The Museum, which has welcomed over 2.5m visitors since opening in 2013.
Speaking about the new exhibition, Caroline Fagerlind, Head of Exhibitions at ABBA The Museum, said, “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate ABBA The Museum’s ten year anniversary than with a new exhibition. With ABBA Voyage, we truly have the full story to deep dive into the world of ABBA — from the very beginning and into the future. We can’t wait to welcome both new and returning visitors.”
In 2021, ABBA's best of compilation album, 'Gold', became the biggest-selling LP in British music history.
