Premiere: Peachlyfe ‘Feathered Hand’
Beloved Berlin queer club night Mala Junta celebrates its fifth anniversary with a capsule of hedonistic rave releases on Amniote Editions
Berlin-based underground queer rave Mala Junta will celebrate its fifth anniversary this month with a series of releases on the Amniote Editions label.
Encompassing one 12” EP and two digital compilations, ‘The Collective Capsule’ releases are described as a “celebration and tribute to the unique Mala Junta and its impact on Berlin’s vibrant contemporary queer scene”. Launched by DJs Hyperaktivist and DJ Tool back in 2018, the party has become a focal point for Berlin’s hedonistic underground, with an emphasis on inclusivity and self–expression and a music policy that looks back to the fast, euphoric energy of ‘90s rave music, trance and techno.
The four-track 12” EP features music from Mala Junta’s founders, as well as its two resident DJs Yazzus and D.Dan, each of whom presents their track under a pseudonym. ‘The Collective Capsule Vol. 1’ is a 20-track suite of fast-paced rave hypnotism featuring tracks from the likes of Roza Terenzi, Byron Yeates, WTCHCRFT, François X, Mohajer, Jensen Interceptor and more.
Danish DJ and producer, Peachlyfe – who recently featured on a Boudica compilation alongside Yazzus, Infinity Division and Sentimental Rave – comes through with classic trance flair on their contribution: ‘Feathered Hand’, a track that manages to be wonderfully indulgent in its ‘90s nostalgia, while still keeping a foot firmly in a contemporary club headspace. Put simply, it’s an absolute scorcher.
Amniote Editions, the label launched by Mama Snake and Tanya Akinola in 2019, has once again teamed up with graphic designer Alexis Mark for this capsule series’ artwork.
‘Amniote Editions and Mala Junta Present - The Collective Capsule Vol. 1’ will be released on 23rd June. Pre-order it here.
