Premiere: schuttle ‘Shadout’
Bakk Heia’s schuttle delivers four cuts of bubbling acid and thumping kosmische
Manchester-based DJ and producer schuttle will release a new EP this month via the Bakk Heia Records he co-runs. Listen to ‘Shadout’ below.
The party-turned-label’s sixth release is a neon-hued snapshot of the vibe schuttle and fellow co-founder Jorg Kuning have brought to beloved Salford haunt The White Hotel on a semi-regular basis since 2017. Across four tracks, the Newcastle-born artist pulls from the same squiggly quiver as labels like Wisdom Teeth and Freerotation, stirring a potent brew of buoyant beats, hazy synths and chiming choral chops, with a healthy splash of acid bass chucked in for good measure.
‘Souvlaki’ is a squelching dancefloor appetiser, all chirruping gasps and intonations around its cymbal-riding beat. ‘Swords Dance (Parts 1 & 2)’ is the sort of tune the lone swordsman himself, Andrew Weatherall, would have been proud of: a tempo-surfing 10-minute epic packed with deeeeeeep acid gurgles and jaunty jaw harp.
‘Shadout’ kicks off the EP on a bouncy house tip, while ‘Junkman’ ends proceedings in the realm somewhere between the Balearic coast and outer space.
‘BH006’ will be released on 14th April. Pre-order it here.
