Since 2016, the Berlin-based Brazilian DJ and producer, Daniela Caldellas, aka Terr, has written and played music that is simultaneously rooted in the nostalgic stomp and arpeggiated gloss of Italo disco and Hi-NRG, and laser-focused on dancefloors of the future. Stargazing synths, buoyant basslines and sexy swing of those genres permerate her repertoire of tracks released on labels such as Hotflush, Permanent Vacation and Correspondent. 

Since 2019, she’s felt right at home on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound, alchemising the influences of Giorgio Moroder, Wendy Carlos, The Knife, grunge, electroclash, pop and more into a singular string of EPs and singles, her velvety vocals soaring over irresistible basslines and thumping beats.  

Her debut album, ‘Consciousness As A State Of Matter’ is the high-water mark of her musical journey to date, an 11-track trip into cosmic house, disco and electro pop that crystallises her sonic identity, while pushing further into new directions. From the rolling deep house ‘Time Crystal’ and ‘Wings Of Time’ and thirsty thump of ‘Only For Tonight’ to the acid techno rush of ‘States Of Mind’ and blissed-out pop of ‘Energy Sync’, it’s the sort of vibrant dance music we expect to be hearing a lot of this summer.
