Tkay Maidza has shared a new single, ‘Silent Assassin’. Watch the music video below.

The track – featuring fellow Australian Flume on production duties – is the Zimbabwe-born artist's first release since the 2022 festive single, ‘Nights in December’, and the more recent Snakehips collaboration ‘Show Me the Money’. The self-empowerment-inspired anthem arrives via 4AD/Dew Process, and features Tkay rapping over Flume’s beats.

“I like to move in silence, but this song is a reminder that people shouldn’t count me out or underestimate my abilities; they should be afraid when I’m quiet as I come back more evolved,” Tkay shared on the tune. “I’ve always wanted to work with Flume and was immediately ecstatic when he played the instrumental for this; I wanted to channel Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliot.”

‘Silent Assassin’ arrived last week alongside a music video directed by LA-based photographer and creative, Milo Lee. Tkay Maidza will be back in Australia next month for an appearance at Splendour In The Grass festival, before joining Lizzo for the Australian leg of her tour.

Flume dropped his latest album, ‘Arrived Anxious, Left Bored’, in May through Future Classic/Transgressive Records. It was the Australian artist’s second surprise release of 2023, coming off the back of February’s ‘Things Don't Always Go The Way You Plan’. Much like that record, ‘Arrived Anxious, Left Bored’ features music recorded by Flume across his career to date.
