Rye Wax shares archive of electronic music workshops and masterclasses on Youtube: Watch
Sessions featuring Ifeoluwa, Medlar, and Moving Still are available to watch online now
South London record store and nightclub Rye Wax has shared a selection of electronic music workshops and masterclasses on its YouTube channel.
The ten live sessions were recorded earlier this summer as part of Rye Wax’s youth mentorship programme, in association with Arts Council England. Rye Wax Music Access offered masterclasses and workshops to aspiring musicians aged between 18 and 25 on everything from live electronic music performance to production, as well as pairing students with mentors working in the dance music industry.
Earlier this month, Rye Wax shared the first four masterclasses from the archive online, including DJ and Intervention Cru founder Ifeoluwa in conversation with Rachael Williams (AKA Ambient Babestation Meltdown), discussing misogynoir, safer spaces, and collective justice. Sessions led by deep house producer Medlar, Afrobeat musician Dele Sosimi, and Dublin-based DJ Moving Still, are also available to watch online here.
The Peckham nightspot shared the final two masterclasses from the series yesterday (30th August), featuring Pressure Dome affiliate Wordcolour discussing his production techniques and tips, and Red Rack’em in conversation with Tony Nwachukwu from non-profit organisation Create Define Release on alternative revenue streams.
Rye Wax is currently not open as a music venue following the COVID-19 pandemic, but has plans to fully relaunch into the future. Check out the monthly Rye Wax Show on Noods Radio here.
The full RWMA23 masterclass series is available to watch here.
