Swedish behemoth Alesso has been a mainstay of our poll for just over a decade after debuting in 2011. He sits at the top table of EDM with peers like Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Sebastian Ingrosso, all of whom he has collaborated with over the years, as well as pop artists from across the world.

Key to the Stockholm native's success is his ability to blend progressive house with pop, and crafting accessible beats with catchy hooks. This year he's dropped biggies like 'When I'm Gone' with Katy Perry as well as 'Words' with Zara Larsson, which picked up almost 20 million views.

Alesso, who was once said to be among the second wave of Swedish EDM superstars along with the likes of Avicii, has of course spent much time on the road playing everywhere from Las Vegas to Bali to Creamfields, often with Zara alongside him on stage playing live. The next year will surely bring plenty more crossover, chart-topping hits and supersized shows all over the planet.
