This year marks an incredible 20-year run in the Top 100 DJs poll for André Tanneberger, aka ATB. The German DJ/producer continued to take his unwavering devotion to trance across the world over summer 2022, performing at Poland's Sunrise Festival, Creamfields, London's Ministry Of Sound, Soundbar in Chicago, Romania's Untold Festival and on the main stage at Serbia's EXIT Festival — a performance he says is a highlight of his year.
ATB's release schedule has slowed in 2022, perhaps due to the fact that he has recently become a dad, but that didn't stop him being nominated for International Song of the Year at the Brit Awards 2022 for the remake of his epic trance anthem '9PM' with Topic and A7S. As trance continues to fill the world's biggest stages, and influence underground dance music sounds, it's clear ATB's place at the forefront of the genre continues.
Name one great festival you played for the first time this year…
“Main stage EXIT Festival Novi Sad, Serbia.”
What’s the longest DJ set you’ve ever played?
“I remember playing seven-hour sets. I started playing in 1995 as a resident DJ in a very famous nightclub called TARM Center, which was THE club in Germany at that time. I started every Thursday at 9pm, and the night ended around 4am. I guess that was the time when I played my longest sets.”
What’s one piece of studio hardware you wish you owned?
“Honestly, I had my first studio in 1993 and since then I've had every piece of studio equipment I've dreamed of. In 2022 I designed, built and moved into three completely new studios with two friends and put Genelec 1238 monitors with two Genelec 7380AP subwoofers in my studio, so I have in the studio an absolute club feeling and the complete frequency range.”
What’s the next big sound?
“I wish I knew!”
