Location: Los Angeles, CA, USA
From hosting The Beatles in 1964 to landing Sasha’s first DJ residency on the West Coast, AVALON has remained a staple in Los Angeles’ electronic and live music scenes. In the ’80s, the venue was known as the “West Coast version of the infamous Studio 54 nightclub”, according to its website, and welcomed first-time US performances from Eurythmics, Culture Club and The Clash. AVALON has since evolved into a more modern, state-of-the-art venue, but with its Spanish Baroque decor, theatrical main dancefloor and intimate Bardot room, the space still has that old-Hollywood feel. In the last 12 months, the team have revamped the sound system and added additional lighting, complementing the existing hanging trusses and several screens for visuals. Swedish House Mafia, Nina Kraviz, ARTBAT, Bedouin, Dennis Cruz, Carnage, OFENBACH and Magdalena have performed at the venue, while in-house parties Emo Nite and Gasolina continue their themed soirées each month.
