Baby Audio has brought back Yamaha’s CS01 as a plugin called the BA-1.

The BA-1 is "a modern re-imagination of a cultish 1982 analogue synth that looked like a toy but sounded like a beast" with a 1980s budget rack hardware-inspired FX section.

The plugin is loaded with over 500 presets as well as a smart Re-Gen feature that will "automatically create new and musically tuned patches with every click". The sound promises to align with the LA music software company's motto: "It’s an evolution, not an emulation”.

First launched in 1982, the Yamaha CS01 monosynth is known for its beefy bass lines and easy-to-use interface.

The Baby Audio plugin is priced at $99.00 and you can sign up for a free trial here. Find out more via the Baby Audio site and watch an official demo of the BA-1 below.

Back in March, Yamaha announced a new line of battery-powered electric pianos, the CK range, which combine elements of the Yamaha CP Stage Piano and the YC Stage Keyboard, and are equipped with various on-board sounds as well as 51 effects.
