East Asia has an increasing number of the world’s top clubs, and Boomerang is one of the region’s brightest new stars. Opened in late 2020 on the site of a former Hard Rock Cafe, it has swiftly positioned itself as Hong Kong’s premier dance spot. Though relatively compact, it boasts features you’d expect from the biggest venues, like a Funktion-One sound system, elaborate LED lights behind the DJ booth, and kinetic panels. Based in Lan Kwai Fong, central Hong Kong, Boomerang has booked many of EDM’s marquee names in the last year, with ALOK, NERVO, Timmy Trumpet, Carta, Mariana Bo, Mike Williams, Tom & Collins and Quintino all appearing at the venue, while its residents include co-founder DJ Karlie, iLTIK, Yaman (Yaat), and Hansel. This year, the club has already invested in new lighting systems and visual effects, and promises that soon we will see “Boomerang 2.0”.
