Calvin Harris is a true titan of electronic music. Though he first broke through in the UK in 2007 with debut album ‘I Created Disco’ and its inescapable funky electro-pop lead single ‘Acceptable In The 80s’, that era feels almost forgotten now. Far greater has been his success since, including countless chart-topping tracks, superstar collaborations and awards. Tracks like 2014’s ‘Summer’, 2016’s ‘This Is What You Came For’ with Rihanna, and 2018’s ‘One Kiss’ with Dua Lipa, have been streamed well over a billion times each on Spotify alone. And he’s more often than not named as the world’s highest-paid DJ.
But while Harris’ mind-bogglingly boisterous EDM sets continued to turn festivals like EDC Las Vegas upside-down this year, he also held down a residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza all summer, where he spun more big room house, dance-pop and electroclash-oriented sounds. And on the production front, the Scottish star dropped the second volume of his much-loved ‘Funk Wav Bounces’ album series, featuring futuristic funk and disco cuts voiced by Dua Lipa, Young Thug, Busta Rhymes, Stefflon Don, Snoop Dog, Justin Timberlake and many more.
