Interest in the UK’s northeastern club scene has grown in 2023, and Digital has been a prominent feature in the region for nearly two decades. Ever since owner Aaron Mellor sourced an early prototype Funktion-One sound system for its opening night, the club has earned a reputation for its innovative investments — this year, all eyes are on the CUBE, a “pop-up” DJ booth installed with a 360° connection to the dancefloor, the first of its kind in the area. Also new for 2023 is an outdoor terrace, which has facilitated a creative clubbing concept, Digital in Reverse. Entering through the terrace, the event reconfigures the interior to transform the venue into a compact space for one night only, placing the DJs in the centre of the room. Week in, week out the club hosts music across the spectrum of house and techno, welcoming promoters ranging from Cirque Du Soul to local hardcore night, Hysteria.
