King Britt has shared details of the inaugural Blacktronika festival.

The festival, which takes place at Brooklyn's Public Records/The Nursery on 30th July, will feature a combination of DJ sets, live performances and panel discussions.

Britt is among those performing at the event officially titled Blacktronika: Brooklyn, alongside others including Maria Chavez, Charlie Dark, and Orion Sun.

Blacktronika: Brooklyn is an extension of the Blacktronika course taught by Britt at the University Of California in San Diego called Blacktronika: Afrofuturism In Electronic Music

The course is said to honour ”all the pioneers of colour that continue to contribute to the advancement of electronic music”, including “everyone from Herbie Hancock to Moor Mother to Flying Lotus”. Previous guest speakers include Theo Parrish, Ron Trent and Masters At Work.

Additionally, Britt curated a Blacktronika exhibit at the university earlier this year
