From not-so-humble beginnings in a disused brewery, to an underground car park beneath Manchester Piccadilly railway station, and then on to an abandoned industrial space in the city’s suburbs, The Warehouse Project has evolved into the UK’s most visible club brand, setting a new formula for programming centred on seasonal events. Graduating once again in 2019 to occupy its largest and most impressive venue yet, the monolithic Depot Mayfield, most dates are 'limited' to the three main dancefloors: Depot, Archive, and Concourse. However, some special shows see an expanded iteration, such as Repercussion festival and LGBTQIA+ celebration Homobloc, which also make use of Temperance Street, essentially an oversized back alley, and Star & Garter, an era-spanning pub with a long history of very sweaty parties, bringing full capacity up to a whopping 10,000.

2022 saw sets from the likes of Bonobo, TSHA, Denis Sulta, 808 State, Honey Dijon, Laurent Garnier, Robert Hood, Annie Mac and Kerri Chandler, while institutions including Defected, Worried About Henry, Drumcode, and Radio 1 Dance all hosted full takeovers. While remaining tight-lipped about this year’s season, the setup is now an integral part of a £1billion city centre regeneration area, meaning momentum is strong and shows little sign of waning.
