Belgium is the birthplace of new beat, with a thriving techno and house scene and a share of the world’s best clubs. Among them is Hasselt’s Versuz, which first opened in 2002, before relocating in 2013 to a new location, replete with futuristic decor, moving walls and a restaurant. The club’s sonics are provided by a PK Sound system, and there are two dancefloors that can be enlarged or compacted, depending on the event.
In addition to its large pool of resident DJs — including Kenn Colt, Sem Thomasson, REYGEL, Peter Luts, Dave Lambert, Mr Grammy, DeeJay Cham, Thierry von der Warth, DJ Ward, Jorden Dux, Jan V and Stephen Fox — Versuz focuses on big room house music bookings. Just recently, artists like James Hype, Oliver Heldens and Bob Sinclar have played at the club. In 2023, Versuz introduced a new membership card. For an annual fee of €45, clubbers can attend almost any night without additional cost. The owners have also invested in the sound system and LED lights, to ensure it remains one of the best clubs in Europe.
