Now in its third decade, Zouk is a Singaporean institution that has played host to world-touring DJs and globetrotting ravers alike. In 2016, it moved from its original warehouse space in Jiak Kim Street to a riverside location in Clarke Quay. The custom-built superclub is focused around the main space, Zouk, which aesthetically takes inspiration from the underground rave clubs and refurbished warehouses of New York and Berlin. The Mothership steel installation that hangs over the dancefloor has 120 light patterns that can be seen from 360° around it. A unique sound system created by audio engineer Gary Stewart, which is based around four GS Audio stacks and custom-built tweeter arrays, is a big draw of the main room. Beyond Zouk is another space, Phuture, which is styled with graffiti-like artwork and hosts hip-hop parties. Elsewhere, Capital boasts a luxurious whisky bar, while Red Tail has a plush cocktail bar.
Diplo, Markus Schulz and Deorro have all played Zouk in recent months, while Paul van Dyk hits the decks in May with support from resident DJ Che’Molly. Over the years the club has booked an impressive range of acts, including Apparat, Jai Wolf, M.A.N.D.Y., Blasterjaxx, and Charlotte de Witte.
