An AI vinyl digging tool for Discogs has been developed by UK label and collective Timehri.

The Timehri Dig Assistant is described as "a sophisticated machine learning model" that's aimed at helping users "explore the depths of Discogs", according to Timehri. Created by data engineers, the tool is focused on electronic-led vinyl (genres including house, techno, electro, grime and more) and currently can only trawl through any listings uploaded before January 2022.

The tool's recommendations are algorithmic with users entering a Discogs url to the site. You can then click "dive" for more expansive digging. Check out the beta version of Timehri Dig Assistant here.

In July, a limited edition vinyl box set of Pet Shop Boys' album ‘Electric’ sold for an eye-watering $2,243 on Discogs, with a copy of Eric Prydz's ‘Opus’ not far behind at $2,105.

Last month, we also reported that AI is being used by Google to allow people to turn brain scans into music while a new AI app enables users to create videos of themselves dancing from one single photograph.
