Overmono release new single and video, ‘Calling Out’: Watch
Featuring guest vocals by CASISDEAD and slowthai, it's accompanied by a cinematic video by Rollo Jackson
Overmono have released a new single, 'Calling Out'. Check it out alongside, as well as its accompanying video, below.
The third single to be released from the UK duo's highly-anticipated debut album, 'Good Lies' - which was announced last month - 'Calling Out' features guest vocals from CASISDEAD and slowthai.
Speaking about the track, Overmono said: "We've had these chords written for quite a while now and could never find quite the right context for them. One night we were procrastinating in the studio, mostly just drinking and slamming some CASISDEAD and slowthai tracks. We'd been listening to them a lot as they have an incredible way of consistently delivering unexpected music and we find that approach really inspiring."
"Then we had a bit of a eureka moment and realised it might have been the type of sound we were looking to go with alongside that chord progression so we stayed up all night and finally got it done.”
'Calling Out' is accompanied by a cinematic piece, directed by long-time collaborator, photographer and filmmaker Rollo Jackson. Combined with the videos for previously-released singles, 'Is U' and 'Walk Thru Water', Jackson's video is said to "allow fans to journey through the creative world of Overmono; alongside the duo’s signature Dobermann." Watch it below.
Featuring tracks including 'So U Kno' and 'Walk Thru Water', as well as its second official single, 'Is U,' the 12-track 'Good Lies' is set for release via XL Recordings on Friday, 12th May.
After years in the UK underground as solo artists, brothers Tom and Ed Russell, formerly known as Truss and Tessela, have made huge strides as a duo in recent years as Overmono. Last year, Lauren Martin met with the duo to learn how they’ve built a sound and A/V live show that taps into UK dance music legacies, all while staying true to themselves.
Back in September, Overmono and Joy Orbison released their second collaborative track, 'Blind Date', via XL Recordings
