Premiere: DJ Deep Heat ‘Fly Away’
DJ Deep Heat returns to the GODDEZZ label with three larger-than-life club cuts that tug at both the lush and deadly strands of UK garage
DJ Deep Heat will release a brand new EP, ‘Fly Away’, later this month via GODDEZZ. Have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
The Sheffield producer’s second EP for the label is an aptly titled triptych of hi-NRG garage with a glossy, euphoric glaze. Building on the kinetic sound design of his ‘D2TL’ EP for the imprint, released back in April, and his latest single ‘Pressure’ on Deep Tissue Dubs, these three cuts fuse thumping kicks with slippery basslines and seriously fun synth melodies.
The title track is almost infuriatingly catchy; a warm, shuffling garage-house cut powered by punchy snares and angelic top lines, while ‘Laminage’ enmeshes its club-focused core with shrill, hyperpop-veering vocals and mischievious motifs, including a synth hook styled like a Windows XP sound effect.
The brooding ‘There 4 U’ rounds out a larger-than-life project that tugs at both the lush and deadly strands of UK garage, and continues to rattle around the cranium long after its breakneck rhythms have waned. This inimitable energy extends throughout the GODDEZZ catalogue, which has boasted recent releases from the likes of Aloka and Pépe, along with the lucid dance sounds of its annual ‘RE:DREAM’ V/A compilation, featuring Kiara Scuro, Remotif, and Sakura Tsuruta.
‘Fly Away’, out 25th August, is available to pre-order here. Listen exclusively to the title track below.
