Ewan McVicar shares animated video for ‘Groove Thang’: Watch
The animated video arrived on the eve of McVicar’s Creamfields North mega-set
Ewan McVicar has shared a new video for his latest single, ‘Groove Thang’. Watch the visual below.
Released last month via Ministry of Sound, the “big vocal chuffer” follows on from a string of releases for labels like Shall Not Fade, Ninja Tune sub-imprint Technicolour, and Patrick Topping’s TRICK.
Last week, the Scottish DJ and producer dropped an accompanying video for ‘Groove Thang’, directed by London-based VFX artist Matt Hutchings, and featuring traditional hand-drawn animation.
“Ewan & his team came to this project with a strong premise about following his pursuit of music throughout the course of his life,” Hutchings explained of the team-up. “We decided to take this idea, and couple it with some truly trippy imagery to create a visually exciting story that still had a compelling emotional through-line.”
The visual arrived on the eve of McVicar’s huge performance at Creamfields North last weekend, which attracted some 20,000 people to the Steel Yard Stage. “Clashed wi Calvin Harris, David Guetta & Patty T at Creamfields and yous still absolutely rammed the steel yard do you know how mental that is to me,” McVicar tweeted after the set.
Last month, McVicar shared a mini-documentary via the BBC about the inaugural edition of his own Pavilion Festival, Back Tae Ayr. The documentary traces McVicar’s journey to bring the rave back to his Scottish hometown.
